Lace and Broken Electronic Devices

It has been pretty eventful around here lately, for many reasons. I guess I'll try to go in the order of events.

First off, I decided to try something new this week which was inspired by this dress that I found at the thrift store.

I thought this dress was pretty cute to start with (minus the collar). It is a simple, black pin stripe, long sleeve shirt dress. So, this week, instead of making it to fit me, I decided to leave it the size it already is and just add a few details here and there; then post it on etsy and let someone else enjoy it! :)

With that plan in action, I went to work, but unfortunately I have no pictures because of the next event that happened last week-my camera fell off the table and the lens broke. Uhhhgg, I was sooooo mad at myself, even though I know it was just an accident. Boo. So I have no pictures of the process of working on this dress. The lens does still kind of work, but the pictures just aren't good at all.

The next event happened the very next morning when I went to turn on my laptop and nothing. Wouldn't turn on AT ALL. Once again, Uhhhgg. Turns out the motherboard is fried, though it was completely fine the night before when I shut it down. Needless to say, it was not a good week around our house for electronic stuff.

The good news is we got a new laptop on Sunday after church. We splurged and got a MacBook Pro and I LOVE it so far!
The bad news is, we are still working on getting a lens for my camera, so we will have to suffer through with sub-par pictures for now.

So anyway, back to the dress; I decided to take off the white collar, sew down the sides to make a v-neck and sew on some ruffled lace. I also sewed on some lace at the bottom of the dress as well.
Here is my attempt at getting a decent picture:

I am going to post this on etsy once I get some good photos taken, but you get the general idea. The dress is a size 14, but could be a smaller size with a belt.

Here is where I need your guy's opinion- would you like to see more pieces like this one, where the dress is not altered to fit myself and post them on etsy? I'm sure you've noticed that I have started posting some of the items on etsy, mainly because I'm going to run out of room in my closet, I don't need a bajillion dresses, and I would rather have someone else enjoy it then it just hanging in my closet. I would love to hear what you guys think! :-)

  1. Hey there! What kind of lens do you need? I recently purchased our THIRD lens(you can read all about the drama on my blog!), I found it brand new on craigslist for $50!

Have you tried craigslist or ebay?

Can't wait to see what you do with the dress!
